Remote Controlled Projector Lift
Age: 15
Inspiration: Laziness coupled with a free new drop down projector and screen
Purpose: To control both a drop down screen and projector
Significance: Another instance of researching and molding a project to fit within the constraints of a device that it must control.
When my dad's office decided to remodel, my family ended up with a like new drop down screen and projector for free. The problem was controlling the drop down devices wasn't as easy as using a light switch. Therefore I designed a PCB that implemented relays to control both the drop down screen and projector via switches on the wall and via infrared commands from our universal remote. While the system has had its bugs, it has successfully controlled the 120V AC screen as well as the 24V projector drop down with ease. Its small footprint even allowed it to cram into the same electrical box holding the switches to control the drop downs. The infrared sensor is mounted in a hole on the switch cover. Plans for a circuit to control the lighting via the infrared remote are under way.
